Police said a man was run over by his own truck outside a business on Hixson Pike Wednesday afternoon. Darrell Brown, 35, later died, and Charles Luke Jackson, 25, was charged with criminal homicide.

A witness said he and Mr. Brown were sitting in Mr. Brown's vehicle in front of Sweet Melissa's Billiards when their vehicle was struck by a red Nissan pickup being pushed by Jackson.

He said an argument ensued and Jackson approached Mr. Brown and began throwing punches at him.

He said Mr. Brown, who was unarmed, then began walking away from the situation.

The witness said Jackson then jumped in the Brown vehicle.  The witness said he got in front of it, but dived out of the way when Jackson began driving it forward.

He said Jackson then ran over Mr. Brown, not stopping until he struck some moving vehicles at the site.

The victim was taken to Erlanger Hospital, where he later died.

Jackson left the scene and was arrested later.

Police said the incident was captured on several nearby surveillance cameras and that backed up the account given by the witness.
