Lena Sue Blakemore, age 77, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, departed this life Sunday May 12, 2019 at Parkridge Medical Center.

Mrs. Blakemore was a life-long resident of Northwest Georgia and was a pharmacy tech for the Erlanger Health System for over 25 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Lena was very strong in her faith as a Christian. She had an infectious smile and undying love and devotion to for her family and friends and was an avid pet lover!

Mrs. Blakemore is predeceased in death by her parents, Boss and Julia Mae Beasley Ledford; and siblings, Clifford Ledford, Ross Ledford and Dorothy Jones.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas Blakemore; children and spouses, Thomas and Yvette Blakemore of Bishopville, S.C. as well as Lisa and Steve Hope of Chattanooga; grandchildren and spouses, Samantha and Darin Zepf of Belmont, N.C., Bill and Brandi Blakemore of Simpsonville, S.C., as well as Sydnee Hope of Chattanooga; and sister, Lynn Cooper of Cohutta, Ga. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lena Sue Blakemore will be Friday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at the Ponders Funeral Home Brained Chapel.

The family will meet with friends Thursday, May 16, from 4-8 pm. and Friday, May 17, from 11 a.m. until the service hour of 1 p.m.

Internment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery where Pastor Dwight Martin will hold a graveside service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in her name to the Humane Educational Society, https://www.heschatt.org/give/ or to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/.  She felt strongly about supporting both of these worthy causes.
