No New Property Taxes - And Response

  • Saturday, May 4, 2019

Homeowners just paid higher property taxes in 2017.  Homeowners are not Santa Claus.  We must live within our means and the schools need to also as they receive extra funding from other sources such as, TVA, EPB, VW, Amazon, and local, state and federal grants.

Every time a new superintendent is hired, he/she is the best thing next to peanut butter. Before the person’s contract comes up for renewal, a new contract is awarded for higher wages.

How are these executives graded? By how much money they can spend, how many new positions can be added, or how many experienced teachers can be retired?

I remember when one of the new School Board members was asked where extra funding would come from and she said, just raise taxes.  Like a previous opinion writer, I will  not vote for the County Commissioner raising taxes and will personally encourage others to do the same.

Please, no property tax increase.

We senior citizens living on fixed incomes find it hard to keep our head above water as it is, and a property tax increase would mean devastation to our budgets.

We pay city and county tax.

At age 80 years old, I feel I have paid my fair share from years back.

Consider giving the senior citizens a treak. We are now trying to pay medical bills.
