The popular Walnut Street Bridge will be closed for an extended time during an upcoming major renovation.
Jermaine Freeman, of city Economic Development, said nearby business owners may be eligible for business disruption funds from the city due to the closure.
A business owner near the bridge said she was told the closure will be for a year and a half.
She said she was advised it would involve painting the entire bridge as well as replacing some decking.
The business owner said it was not deemed feasible to keep certain portions of the bridge open during the work.
Mr. Freeman said there may also be business disruption funds for businesses at Patten Parkway.
The city is set to begin soon a major make-over of the parkway off Georgia Avenue.
