Red Wolves Draw 2-2 Against Toronto FC II

Red Wolves Remain Unbeaten At David Stanton Field

  • Sunday, June 2, 2019

Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (3-4-3) drew against Toronto FC II (4-3-3) 2-2 at David Stanton Field on Saturday night.

Following a blocked shot from inside the box from Toronto, Chattanooga almost broke the deadlock inside the first 10 minutes of the match.

Tony Walls connected with Steven Beattie from just outside the box, but Beattie’s shot didn’t trouble Toronto goalie Caleb Patterson-Sewell who made an easy save. Beattie nearly found the back of the net just a minute later off a set piece from Vangjel Zguro but his header went just wide of the net.

After another Beattie chance was saved, the Red Wolves finally broke through. Off of Chattanooga’s fourth corner of the half, Zguro found Connor Doyle on the near post. From a difficult angle, Doyle headed the ball back and into the top left corner of the net to give the Red Wolves a 1-0 lead.

After multiple chances by both teams to start the second half, Shaan Hundal tied the match for Toronto off a corner that fell right to his foot. Toronto wasted no time taking the lead as, four minutes later, Jacob Shaffelburg slotted home a goal on the left side.

However, Chattanooga wasn’t done. In the 84th minute, Colin Falvey headed home a corner from Zguro to tie the match at two. It was Zguro’s second assist of the game and Falvey’s first goal of the season.

The Red Wolves will be back in action next Saturday, June 8, as they travel to Statesboro, Georgia to take on South Georgia Tormenta FC. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. After traveling to Richmond on Saturday, June 15, the team returns home to host Greenville Triumph SC at 7:00 p.m. on Sautrday, June 22.
