A man who was arrested at the Collegedale McDonald's with a gun in his waistband has been sentenced to serve 27 months in federal prison.
Jonathan Lewis Lamar Meeks, 32, appeared before Judge Travis McDonough after an earlier guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On April 20, 2018, Collegedale Police learned Meeks was at the McDonald's and that he was wanted on outstanding warrants.
As they were arresting him, one officer remarked that he was believed to have a gun in his pocket. Meeks corrected the officer by saying it was in his waistband.
A loaded black 9mm "Honor Guard" pistol was found in his waistband.
Officers also found a number of credit cards, identification cards and Social Security cards, none of which belonged to Meeks.
In 2015, the Georgetown man was arrested in Bradley County on a variety of charges.
Members of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office’s Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions took Meeks into custody at a northwestern Cleveland motel At the time of his arrest, Meeks was in possession of four loaded guns, all of which authorities said were tied to recent burglaries in the area. He also was carrying a large amount of cash on his person.
Meeks attempted to evade arrest, forcing officers to employ a taser to subdue him.
In that arrest, Meeks has four outstanding charges, including aggravated burglary, burglary, forgery and illegal possession of and fraudulent use of a credit card. These counts joined a total of 17 more charges connected to new offenses.
