James Lamar Lewis, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 27, 2019, at his home in Harrison.

Lamar was born March 23, 1951, in Chattanooga, the son of Lloyd and Lucille (Davis) Lewis.  He graduated from Red Bank High School in 1969 and worked as a software developer at numerous Chattanooga companies until his retirement. Never one to sit still, Lamar continued to work part-time as a Media Specialist at Tyner United Methodist Church, where he was a member and frequent participant in the church’s numerous ministries. Lamar was an avid antique car enthusiast and long-time member of the Scenic City Volks Folks and Antique Automobile Club of America – Chickamauga Region. He also enjoyed woodcarving, camping, and Tennessee Vols football.     

Lamar is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cindy Wilson Lewis. He is also survived by his children, Casey (Stephanie) Muse of Tampa, FL, Jeremy (Courtney) Muse of Chattanooga, and Jennifer Lewis of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Kylie, Mackenzie, and Amelia; sister Amlie Lewis of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Randall.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, from 5–8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home – Ashland Terrace. 

 

Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 3 p.m. at Tyner United Methodist Church.     

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tyner United Methodist Church.
