Joseph “Joe” Grzybowski, Jr., 63, of Hixson, Tn., passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, surrounded by his family and friends.

Joe was born, May 7, 1956 in Bayonne, N.J. and lived his early life there until moving to Florida in 1977. He has been a resident of Hixson, for 15 years and previously resided in Delray Beach, Fl.

Joe graduated from Governor Livingston High School in Bayonne, N.J. In his early life he worked construction with his uncle and cousins. He owned and operated a successful swimming pool business, Grzybowski Pools, Inc. from 1986-2008 in Delray Beach.

In 2011, he and wife Helene opened a bakery, Cupcake Kitchen, in Chattanooga. He was a strong, loving and guiding influence not only to his five children but to his extended family, friends and all he encountered.

Joe was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Chattanooga.

Joe loved his family more than anything. He loved traveling and visiting the beach, following the stock market, was an avid Alabama football fan “Roll Tide” and his most recent hobby was scuba diving after becoming a certified advanced open water deep diver. He was a hard-working man with many talents.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Grzybowski, Mother, Mildred “Millie” O’Dowd, sister, Mary Grzybowski, and former wife, Cindy Grzybowski.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Helene Grzybowski, sister, Annette Grzybowski; children, Andrea (Bill) Schmidt, Malissa (Michael) Vidal, Sherri (Robert) Groves, Lauren Grzybowski and Joseph Grzybowski III; six grandchildren, Cynthia, Christopher, William, Anthony, Landon and Brody and several cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 4-7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home.

A Memorial Mass will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 31, at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charlie Burton officiating.
