Police Blotter: Pair Banned From City Cafe After Skipping Out On Bill; Man Again Switches Out Old Shoes For Nikes At Burlington

A woman told police she was pulling into the Circle K on Hixson Pike when her front bumper caught onto the hose at the gas pump breaking the gas nozzle. Police then spoke with a cashier. All parties involved were given follow up information so the pump could be repaired through the proper channels.

A woman said she parked her vehicle at 1115 King St. at a Republic lot. The vehicle was gone when she returned the next day.  She said she remembers locking the car before leaving it and she still had the keys on her person. Police did not observe any broken glass around the immediate area of where the vehicle was parked. The woman was unable to give any suspect information due to her absence from the vehicle for approximately 12 hours.

A resident of Workman Road said around 4:30 a.m. she went outside to start her car in order to warm it up due to the cold. She said 10 minutes later she saw what appeared to be headlights pass over her living room window. She stepped outside in time to see her 2009 Black Kia Spectra being driven away east towards Rossville Boulevard. The woman said there is a dent in the trunk area of the vehicle and that the keys should be with it. The next day the vehicle was found in the alley behind a house on 12th Ave.

A manager for the City Cafe on Carter Street said two men ordered meals and left without paying their tabs. He said the two individuals entered a dark-colored sedan that drove off without the headlights on. Officers observed a dark Toyota sedan driving without headlights on and initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Magnolia Street and E. MLK Boulevard. Officers made contact with driver Jeriah Forte. He said he did pick up two individuals from City Cafe and they were in the back seat. Officers made contact with Houston Ondieki and Brandon Teasley. They related that they were at the City Cafe and forgot to pay their tab. Officers transported the two men back to 901 Carter St. The manager said as long as both men paid the bill he did not wish to press charges. However, both were trespassed from this location. The men paid their bill. Officers instructed them to not return to this location or they will be arrested for criminal trespass.

At 5767 Brainerd Road, the manager said a black female had come into the store and filled a cart with items. The woman then came up to check out but suddenly ran out the door with the cart of items without paying for the merchandise. The manager said the thief left the parking lot in a blue SUV with Tennessee tags, but the tag did not come back on file.

At a residence on S. Marks Avenue, a woman said sometime between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. her 2008 Ford Expedition was stolen out of her front driveway. She has no idea who could have taken the vehicle. Police checked and discovered that there was no broken glass where the vehicle was taken from so it could have been loaded onto a trailer.

A manager at Burlington on Lifestyle Way said a man swapped out his shoes for a new pair of Nike's. She said the same man has completed this same action in the past, however, he has not yet been identified. The latest loss is approximately $50.

The director of Super Shine Window Washers on St. Elmo Avenue said he left the business around 6:30 or 7 p.m. and there were several ladders secured to some of the company vehicles with straps. The vehicles were left there overnight and the next morning he discovered that five of the ladders were gone. He said that there is a fence surrounding the entire property that is secured with a locked gate.

A resident of Elder Mountain Road said that she last saw her rings about two months ago. She keeps then in a box in her bedroom drawer. Since that time, she has had cleaning people in and out of the house and on a Sunday morning she discovered that two of them were gone. She said that one of the cleaning people must have taken them at some point. She estimates around $1,500 for each ring.

A man said he was at a store at 3604 Brainerd Road around 10 p.m. He said he went inside and, when he returned, his vehicle was gone. He said he left the keys in the vehicle. The missing vehicle is a 2003 White Honda Accord 2-door coupe with dark tinted windows.

An official of Shelby-Webb Property Management said the firm was working on a house on Fagan Street and found that a central heating and air unit had been stolen from outside the structure. The front door frame of the structure had been damaged. The house  is being renovated and was unoccupied.
