The Covenant men’s tennis team picked up a region win, 7-2, over Birmingham Southern on Saturday from the Covenant Tennis Complex.
The Scots picked up two wins in doubles play to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles.
Gill Dunn and Ben Luke took down Zach Lewis and Anthony Romano, 8-5, at the two flight while Ethan Gibson and Chris Morton defeated Hunter Hoffmeister and Bo Williams, 8-2, at three doubles.
Logan Hull and Paxton Haggerty dropped the No. 1 doubles to Jameson Bekaert and Wilbur Dotson 8-5 to round out doubles play.
Birmingham Southern (2-4) came right back and evened things up at two after Dotson defeated Hull 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, at one singles and took the lead after Bekaert took down Gibson 6-4, 7-6 (6), at the two spot.
Covenant (2-2) then swept the rest of singles play taking three through six singles.
Luke defeated Romano 6-3, 6-2, at the three and Haggerty took down Hoffmeister 7-6 (9), 6-3, at four singles. Dunn defeated Lewis 6-2, 6-2, at the five slot and Corman took home the 6-1, 6-0 win over Williams at the No. 6.
Covenant welcomes Maryville next Friday, Feb. 28 for a non-conference contest at 4 p.m.
