4 Injured In Fire At Industrial Plant In Dalton

  • Wednesday, February 5, 2020

Four people were injured in a fire in Dalton on Wednesday afternoon.

The Dalton Fire Department responded to a report of a flash fire with injuries at an industrial plant at 310 Brookhollow Industrial Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m. When the first firefighters arrived on scene they found the fire was contained by the facility’s sprinkler system.

When firefighters arrived they found four patients with burn injuries.
One patient was treated at the scene and released. One patient was transported to Erlanger in Chattanooga for treatment and two other patients were transported to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton for treatment.

Early information from the investigation indicates that the fire was caused by accident while a contractor was working on a catwalk at the facility. While working on the catwalk, flammable material at the scene was accidentally ignited. Firefighters believe the fire was a flash ignition of the flammable material. The flame activated the facility’s sprinkler system which put out any remaining fire after the flash.

Firefighters are still on scene at the plant monitoring the scene and are expecting to clear the scene within an hour.
