The next match in the Chattanooga FC Rewind series is set. Next Sunday, April 5th, at 6:00pm, the boys in blue will face Seattle Sounders U23 in a great display of skill and determination. Supporters will remember this match as an evenly matched contest in which Chattanooga FC went out in front early, then gave the lead back only to see the home side regain the lead in the waning moments of the match to secure a 2-1 victory.
"This matchup was a great test for our guys" said Bill Elliott, Chattanooga FC Head coach in 2018, and current Technical Director.
"That Sounders team had some top notch prospects, and for our guys to play as well as they did, it really gave us the boost we needed to go into the regular season."
The move to rebroadcast the classic game comes after NISA announced that the spring season will be postponed through May 10th due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Last month, fans were able to reminisce over the classic 2016 regional playoff victory over Miami United FC. The club still has several upcoming events planned for the next few weeks so that supporters can stay engaged and get excited for the season.
“Every one of us has been affected by COVID-19 and our quarantine. Providing reminders of some simpler times can give everyone a chance to exhale. At the same time, we’re grateful to be able to use these rewind matches to raise money for local groups that are all dealing with their own unique challenges during these trying times” said Alumbaugh.
Chattanooga FC will hold raffles during the match for exclusive player worn jerseys, as well as some gameday experiences for kids and adults alike. The proceeds from the raffle will go towards the CFC Foundation. Sunday’s event will be available for everyone on the Chattanooga FC official YouTube Channel this Sunday, April 5th, at 6:00pm.
