Cleveland's Ownbey Wins Topless Outlaws Race At Crossville Friday

Cleveland racer Lil' John Ownbey got his 2020 season off to a victory Friday night winning the Topless Outlaw Late Model series $2,000 feature at Crossville Speedway in flag to flag fashion.

The #J0 Double O Motorsports "Valley Transport, Wren @ BlackMagic Suspension, Orr Brothers Construction, 7 Orr Construction, M&S Motors, Stealth Racing Carburetors, Chambers Equipment Sales, Evans Garage Doors, Car Smart Auto Sales, Sams Restaurant Equipment, MRC, EORrrs Lawn Care, EZ-GO, Twisted Designs" sponsored Kryptonite / Phantom Racing Engines racer held off some stiff competition as 17 race teams entered the 40 lapper.

Cory Hedgecock, recent $10,052 winner in Seymour, Tn., ran second to Ownbey with Kyle Courtney (another recent winner in Bulls Gap, Tn) placed third. Local hot-shoe and 2019 UCRA 604/Crate Championship Jesse Lowe was fourth overall, with Zach Shannon of Wartburg rounding out the Top 5 finishers.

Soddy Daisy's Jordan Rodabaugh was 9th, Dunlap's Andy Miller was 11th and icon Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga was 16th officially.

Racing Saturday in the Tennessee Valley area is Mountain View Raceway in Dayton/Spring City, I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater and Fort Payne (AL) Motor Speedway respectfully.
