U.S. Navy Veteran Was Pastor And Retired From TVA

Reverend Leon Champion, 92, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

He was the assistant pastor of Harrison First Baptist Church on 58 Highway.  He retired from TVA, Watts Bar Plant and was a teamster and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Champion, son, Wayne Champion, parents, Calvin and Ella Champion, two granddaughters, four sisters, and three brothers.

He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Elaine) Champion of Harrison, Tn., and Mark (Valerie) Champion of Tavares, FL., five granddaughters, one grandson, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Marvin McClendon and Pastor John Smith officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East. 

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Due to Covid 19, social distancing and all CDC measures will be adhered to.
