Texan Tyler Erb (#1) earned the $5,000 Wild West Shootout victory Friday night after a head to head slider fest with already two-time winner Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. and home track (Sunday winner) Ricky Thornton, Jr. at the Arizona Speedway.
"T-Erb-O" was runner up to Davenport Wednesday night, who's now down to a $10,000 bonus, if the Georgian can pull off victories Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's race pays $5,000, but Sunday's finale pays $25,000 to the victor. Only Davenport has enough wins already to earn the WWS bonus that topped out at $250,000 for five of six race wins. If JD pulls off victories the next two races, his trip to the desert will have netted his team an estimated $45,000 in earnings for the eight day jaunt.
Races in Florida slated for Friday night outside Daytona were rained out. Saturday's finale of twin $10,000 to win races for Super Late Models and 604/Crate Late Models at Volusia Speedway Park is still scheduled.
DirtVision.com will be broadcasting the events live for subscribers. Floracing.com also has broadcasts of the races in Arizona Saturday and Sunday for subscribers.
