Crews Continue Work Slicing Through Concrete On Chickamauga Dam

Crews are working around the clock at the Chickamauga Dam to complete a slice approximately 100 feet down through the dam to allow concrete growth to continue without impacting the function of the lift gates and generators.

The team is more than half way through the project which should wrap up around the end of the month. 

This is the third time TVA Dam Safety has taken a slice out of Chickamauga to allow for concrete growth since it was completed in 1940. Doing so ensures the continued safe operation of the dam, providing flood control and clean hydro generation, said officials.
