U.S. Navy Veteran Worked For Many Years At Shipp's RV In East Ridge

Hillyard Garmon Turnure, 84, of Rossville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in a local health care facility. 

 

Mr. Turnure was born on Sept. 27, 1937, in Chattanooga to the late Bertrand Clifton and Evelyn Durham Turnure.  He had lived most of his life in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area where he attended Kirkman Technical High School and had worked for over 20 years at Shipp’s RV in East Ridge, retiring in the early 2000s. Mr. Turnure was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Korean War in Japan. Mr. Turnure never met a stranger, he was the life of the party, and he loved his family dearly.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Turnure; sister, Antoinette Johnson; and brother, Michael Turnure.

 

Survivors include his son, Jim (Amy) Turnure; grandchildren, Claire Turnure, Katy Finlay, and Ally Finlay; his two brothers and sister, Bert and Ed Turnure and Evelyn Fitzsimmons, with whom he had a very close bond; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

 

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
