Jenny Swafford Named Bryan College Associate Athletic Director

  • Wednesday, June 9, 2021

Bryan College announces that alumna Jenny Swafford will take on the role of associate athletic director.

Ms. Swafford is a Rhea County local and played for the Lion's softball team. She earned a BA in
psychology in 2012 and an MS in psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2015.

David Holcomb, vice president of Advancement and Athletics, says, “We are excited to have Jenny on board with our leadership team. Her background as a former collegiate athlete, admissions counselor, resident director and current professor of psychology uniquely qualifies her to help lead the ever-increasing complexity of college athletics.”

Ms. Swafford previously worked in high school special education and coached both basketball and softball before returning to “The Hill.” She has since served in the offices of Admissions, Academics and Student Life, while being honored as Staff Member of the Year in 2019. She is now eager to come alongside coaches as they prioritize the holistic formation of student-athletes. She shares that her personal top-level goal is empowering others by way of ministry, development and servanthood.

Expanding on the development of her goal, Ms. Swafford said, “Bryan is unlike anywhere else. Through my own personal story and hearing a decade’s worth of others, I know that a life-changing experience is a common experience here. Transferring to Bryan was a pivotal moment for my relationship with the Lord and The Hill continues to develop my spiritual maturity. I’m surrounded by a community that sharpens each other and is hungry for growth as we roll up our sleeves and serve our students. I’m blown away at how God has crafted a role for me here that uniquely utilizes my abilities and affinities in such a way that I can’t wait to get started every day. And those that have had to hang up their cleats knows it’s painful, but getting to play an active role in the legacy of BC athletics is such a reward. We’re going to keep contending for the faith and excellence in
the name of Jesus.”

She and her husband, Jake, are both from Dayton, but the Swaffords have journeyed from coast to coast, stopping longest to live in Utah, Florida and Virginia before returning home to put down roots. They have two children, Marshall and Monroe, and when they are not chasing the boys, you can find them cheering on the Atlanta Braves, kayaking the Chickamauga Lake or curling up with coffee and a good book.
