Eugene "Gene" Allen Broome
Eugene "Gene" Allen Broome, 91, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2021.
A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Broome retired from Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #43 after more than 40 years of service.
He was presently a member and deacon at Ridgedale Baptist Church, and was formerly a member and deacon at South Seminole Baptist Church.
He held membership with the East Ridge Masonic Lodge #755 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was an avid woodworker, cook, pilot, scuba diver and enjoyed traveling.
He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and “Papa” to all that knew him.
He is survived by the love of his life; his wife of 70 years, Pat Black Broome; children, David (Joan) Broome, Chandra (David) Smith, and Allen (Melissa) Broome, all of Chattanooga; 7 grandchildren, Andy (Francie) Broome, Lauren (Jim) Beihoffer, Phillip (Andrea) Smith, Zachary Smith, Adam (Holly) Smith, Carter Broome, and Griffin Broome; 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
