Alma Jean Norris-Sales
Alma Jean Norris-Sales, was born on June 30, 1955, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Charles E. and Alma C. Norris. She was known by most as “Jean”.
Jean graduated from Howard High School in 1973. She attended Dalton College where she received her CNA certification. She retired from Healthsouth Chattanooga. She attended New Vernon Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, singing in the choir, karate and horror movies, playing games and sharing her testimony about the Lord.
Jean departed her earthly life on January 24, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Sales; and her brother, Charles Norris.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles (Yolanda) McClendon and Michael McClendon III and his partner, Marcus Hardaway; god-daughter, Timarra Scott; stepdaughter, Dorris Sales; four grandchildren, Darius, Amanda, and Chelsea McClendon, and Ty’Jhad McClendon-Hardaway; one step granddaughter, Tychica Postell; two and a half great-grandchildren, Darius McClendon, Jr. and Jaycee Shackleford; six sisters, Evelyn (George) Calhoun, Ruby Jenkins, Ann (James) Donahue, Shirley Thompson; Sandra Copeland, Jacqueline Davis; two brothers, Willie Norris, Robert (Cheryl) Norris; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 2–6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the funeral home.
A funeral service will begin at noon on Friday, Feb. 4, in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
