Nelson Titsworth, of Chattanooga, departed this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at a local hospital.

He was born in Pulaski, Tn., on May 28, 1935, to the late Clyde and Evia (Barnickle) Titsworth. He was a 1953 salutatorian graduate from Bodenham High School; following graduation he moved to Chattanooga with his family. He attended Michigan State University studying marketing management. He was employed by M & J Supermarkets of Chattanooga for several years in managerial positions. In 1960 he made a career change entering the housing industry, managing for Shell Home Companies in the Southeast and Gulf Coast region. He excelled and became a company leader, receiving numerous outstanding achievement and top performance awards.

Mr. Titsworth obtained his real estate broker’s license in 1969, and was a professional realtor in Chattanooga for three decades. He owned and operated Nelson Titsworth Realty at Eastgate Center, where he specialized in the residential market doing business in both Georgia and Tennessee. He enjoyed a distinguished lifetime career in the real estate industry. He was an active member of the Chattanooga, State, and National Association of Realtors for 31 years. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and former member of St. John United Methodist Church.

A devoted family man, his greatest pleasures in life were family events and special times with his children and grandchildren that he loved so dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wilson Titsworth; sister, Bonnie Carlton; brother-in-law, Charles Carlton; and nephew, Kenny Carlton.

He is survived by his son, Nelson (Dawn) Titsworth, II, of Maryville, TN; his daughter, Cheri Titsworth (Scott) Hunt, of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Ian and Rachel Hunt of Cumming, Cadence, Cortlyn, and Caiya Titsworth, of Maryville; former wife of 36 years, and mother of his children, Carolyn Hardeman; sister-in-law, Deborah Titsworth; nephews, Darian Titsworth, and David Carlton; four great-nieces, extended family and friends.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Chattanooga Memorial Park in Red Bank, Tn.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East Chapel.
