The Chattanooga Lookouts fell in both games of the double header to the Knoxville Smokies on Sunday afternoon to conclude their series in a rainy weekend at Chattanooga.
The offense had trouble getting going in both games scoring a combined three runs on the day. In Game One starting pitcher Kevin Abel was roughed up for six runs in less than two innings of work and the Lookouts were defeated 9-2. Third baseman Sal Stewart was once again the lone bright spot offensively, collecting two hits.
In Game Two the Lookouts collected only three hits falling 5 to 1. Starting pitcher Jose Franco gave up two runs in four innings and was tagged with the loss.
The Lookouts are now 16-16 on the season, falling a half game behind the Smokies for first place in the division. They head to Birmingham this week beginning Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
