CHA ART SPACE, a modular exhibit area currently located in the ticketing area of the Chattanooga Airport, has been updated with a new juried show titled Flora & Fauna. Curated by local artist Carrie Pendergrass, the exhibit features the work of nearly 30 local and regional artists. As a juried show, the pieces included were selected through a competitive submission process reviewed by a designated juror or panel.

Flora & Fauna marks the 14th installment of CHA ART SPACE since its debut in July 2021, and the fourth collaboration with local nonprofit Association for Visual Artists. Through this partnership, CHA ART SPACE functions as a satellite project of AVA’s programming.

Artists were invited to submit work inspired by nature, including representations of plants and animals from both the local ecosystem and the broader natural world. Several pieces were created using natural pigments and materials, further underscoring the exhibit’s theme.

All works are available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting both the artists and the ongoing operation of CHA ART SPACE, which remains committed to offering free public art exhibits.

“Flora & Fauna is more than just an art exhibit, it’s a celebration of our connection to nature and to each other,” said Ms. Pendergrass. “When someone purchases a piece of original art, they’re not only supporting a local artist, but they’re also helping sustain a creative community and keeping public art accessible to everyone.”

Artists featured in Flora & Fauna include: Alexis Baranek, Amanda Brazier (guest juror and artist), Elisha Briseno, Aster Brunsting Frazer, Jan Burleson, Janet Campbell Bradley, Tressa Cassetty, Jeffrey L. Cohen, Ashley Delaney, Valerie Dibble, Randy Griffith, Faye Ives, Nandini Makrandi, Aimee Maschhoff, Melanie Mitchell Tucker, Elizabeth Lang, Kathleen M. Pacenti, Amy Packer, Kim Pringle, Caitlin Rantala, Katie Rogers, Susan Schweigard, Michael Stedman, Ellie Swann, Kenny Thatcher, April Van Brunt, Jessica Wagner, Katie Ward Knutson and Danyelle Woods.

The exhibit will remain on display through September. For more information, visit www.avarts.org/cha-art-space or follow @cha_art_space and @sewntothesea on Instagram. For purchase inquiries, email cha.curator@gmail.com.
