Eight high school football teams remain in this year’s Prelude to a Championship and Jamboree and they will take to the field at Finley Stadium tonight. This is the second time in a 26-year stretch that the event has been held over the course of two weekends.
All of the teams playing tonight hope to return to Finley this December for a shot at a state championship.
Friday August 8th featured two border battles when Walker Valley played Ringgold which was followed by a Warren County / Dade County match up. Then on the 9th, Heritage played East Hamilton while Tyner and Hixson finished the evening and the first weekend of scrimmages. "These scrimmages offer fans a chance to see some different matchups", said Event Director Todd Agne in a press release. "We are always excited to welcome teams from North Georgia and give them the experience of playing in Finley Stadium."
Tonight, the Jamboree portion of play includes the return of Sale Creek, Marion County, Whitwell, Silverdale, McCallie, Tyner, South Pittsburg and the first ever appearance of Hayesville NC. Having teams come from across the region is a testament to the excitement and opportunity that players and coaches alike share about this event.
Admission is $10 each day. Tickets are available from participating high schools and they will also be sold at the gate at Finley Stadium. All seats are general admission and cost $10.
