Danny Edgar Long
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Danny Edgar Long who passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025.
Danny was born on Oct. 11, 1948, to Lauria Marie Long and Edgar "Bug" Chester Long. He grew up in Calhoun, Tn., where he played every sport available and loved his motorcycles and corvettes. He had a lifelong passion for baseball and was drafted to play for the Minnesota Twins. After his time on the diamond, he built a career as an electrician with DuPont where he remained until retirement.
Like his father, Danny was a devoted and accomplished gardener. He also had a great love for music, and was learning to play the guitar at the time of his passing.
Danny is survived by his daughter Dr. Lacy Windham and her husband Eric, and their three children Lee (15), Lake (13) and Lark (11). He is survived by his dear sister Joyce Billingsley and her husband Franklin, as well as their children Denise (Alan) Ray and Jenise (Rob) Cantrell. He is also survived by his cousin and friend Darrell Prueitt, great nieces Kaitlyn (Colby) Arendale, Callie (Brandon) Vandemark, Tiffany (Brian) Saffold, Courtney (Bobby) Cantrell, Jillian Cantrell.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, at Companion Funeral in Cleveland, followed by the service at 3 p.m. A private graveside burial for the family will follow.
