Rodney D. Day, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Chief Marvin J. Day and Bonnie Murphy Day.

He proudly served the Chattanooga Fire Department for 27 years before retiring, dedicating his career to protecting and serving his community. In retirement, Rodney remained active in his neighborhood, serving for many years on the board of directors of the Derby Downs Homeowners Association.

A man of deep faith, Rodney was a true Christian who loved the Lord and lived his life with kindness, humility, and compassion.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Shirley Guhne Day; sister-in-law, Linda Sue Mays; uncles, Tom Murphy and John Murphy; and several nieces and nephews.

At Rodney’s request, no services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rodney’s memory to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
