Rep. Greg Martin Secures $264K For Hamilton County Arts Organizations

  • Tuesday, August 12, 2025

State Rep. Greg Martin, R-Hixson, on Tuesday announced several Hamilton County-based arts organizations will receive state grants totaling $264,250 to support educational and outreach programs.

ArtsBuild will receive three grants totaling $139,970. The Chattanooga Theatre Centre will receive $88,600. Scenic City Clay Arts will receive three grants totaling $31,680 and the Songbirds Foundation will receive $4,000.

“Investing in the arts means investing in the future of our communities,” Rep. Martin said. “These grants will help strengthen local organizations that educate, inspire and bring people together. I’m proud to support funding that not only enriches our cultural landscape but also contributes to economic growth and quality of life in Hamilton County.”

The funding is part of $12.3 million approved by the Tennessee General Assembly in the 2025-26 budget to support arts initiatives in both rural and urban communities across all 95 counties. The Tennessee Arts Commission administers the grants.

“Tennessee is fortunate to be a state where few can rival the breadth and depth of its arts and culture. Tennessee boasts a unique array of artistic and cultural assets,” said Anne B. Pope, executive director of the Tennessee Arts Commission. “Arts and culture are vital tools for attracting and retaining businesses and help build stronger communities by enhancing the distinctive character of Tennessee places.”

The commission awards funding through a competitive process that includes review by citizen advisory panels with expertise in various arts disciplines, followed by approval from the full commission.

Tennessee’s nonprofit arts and culture industry generates $1.4 billion in annual economic activity, supports more than 23,400 full-time equivalent jobs and contributes to education, tourism and community development statewide.
