For the second time in three games the Chattanooga Lookouts pitching staff shutout the first place Birmingham Barons with a 1-0 victory on Sunday night to complete the series. After losing the first three games of the series the Lookouts bounced back to win the final three.
On Sunday starting pitcher Jared Lyons was the hero as he went six scoreless innings allowing five hits and striking out four. He moves to 4-5 on the year with the win. Arij Fransen followed Lyons with two hitless innings and Trevor Kuncl slammed the door in the ninth with his 16th save.
In the fourth inning Edwin Arroyo reached with a one out single then moved to second on a fielder's choice and to third on a throwing error. Ruben Ibarra followed with an infield single to score Arroyo and the game's lone run.
The Lookouts are off on Monday before hosting Montgomery starting Tuesday night. They are now one game under .500 in the second half, sitting at 18-19 and 8 games back of first place Birmingham.
