Chattanooga defender Brenna Swiger returned for her final season and earned a spot on the Southern Conference Preseason All-Conference Team, the league office announced Monday.
Swiger earned all-conference honors in 2024. She came to Chattanooga after a successful career at Cumberland (TN) University. Last year she was a part of the Mocs defense that allowed just 20 goals and recorded four shutouts with a 1.18 goals-against average.
The Mocs received 48 points in the coaches’ preseason poll and picked to finish fifth. UTC was three points behind Mercer (4th) and three points ahead of UNCG (6th). Western Carolina received nine first place votes and was picked to finish first with 81 points. Samford was selected second with 72 points and the remaining first place vote.
The Catamounts led the way with six players selected to Preseason All-Conference Team. Mercer had two while the Mocs, Samford and UNCG rounded out the team with one each.
The Mocs host Winthrop in the season opener this Thursday at Finley Stadium following a competitive preseason.
“We’re pleased with the effort and progression the squad has shown throughout our preseason camp,” Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. “Despite limited training time, we faced two strong opponents and took valuable lessons from each match.
“We now look forward to our upcoming non-league fixtures which will provide excellent preparation for SoCon play.”
Admission to all Chattanooga Mocs soccer home matches is free. Gates open one hour prior to kickoff and concessions are available.
