Drunk Driver Leaves Scene Of A Crash - And Other Collegedale Police Calls

In the 9400 block of Apison Pike, officers located an abandoned vehicle with heavy front-end damage that matched a BOLO. The incident location appeared to be in Chattanooga, and CPD responded. The driver was later located and taken into custody for public intoxication after being cited for leaving the scene of a crash.

Friday, August 8th

In the 10000 block of Tellico Drive, a citizen reported vehicles parked facing the wrong direction and blocking a mailbox. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicles parked correctly and advised those present not to block mailboxes while conducting work.

In the 4900 block of Wellesley Drive, a driver backing out of a driveway struck a neighbor’s vehicle. Both drivers exchanged the necessary information for a report.

In the 5300 block of Ooltewah-Ringgold Road, smoke was reported due to leftover food burning in a cafeteria oven. No further issues were found.

In the 4600 block of Swinyar Drive, a key was found in the keyhole to the men’s restroom at Little Debbie Park and was returned to maintenance staff.

In the Wellesley neighborhood, a caller reported a silver car traveling at a high rate of speed. The caller was advised that officers must witness traffic violations to take enforcement action and was reminded that patrols are conducted in the area.

During the night shift, officers assisted the fire department in the 5000 block of Ooltewah-Ringgold Road after a water heater malfunction caused sparking and tripped a breaker.

In the 10000 block of Apison Pike, an attempted traffic stop for speeding resulted in a motorcycle fleeing. No pursuit was initiated, and the information was documented.

Saturday, August 9th

In the 5200 block of Mendoza Place, an individual was issued a misdemeanor citation for possession of drug paraphernalia during an assist with county deputies.

Also in the 5200 block of Mendoza Place, officers assisted in locating a person involved in a disorder with a weapon. The subject was detained until county deputies arrived and took custody, charging them with domestic assault.

In the 4900 block of Swinyar Drive, police and fire responded to the pickleball court restrooms after a malfunctioning unit was blowing hot air. Fire personnel accessed the mechanical room and shut off the breaker.

In the 5000 block of City Station Drive, a resident reported that a family member was posting their court case details on Facebook. The caller was advised of several options and to seek legal counsel.

A parking lot crash occurred in the 5900 block of Elementary Way involving two vehicles. There were no injuries, and both cars were removed by their drivers.

In the 5500 block of Little Debbie Parkway, a vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot but was later found in the same lot with the assistance of the owner’s key fob.

In the 5100 block of Little Debbie Parkway, officers cleared a large pile of trash that was blocking a travel lane.

In the 5000 block of City Station Drive, an intoxicated individual made an unfounded report of a theft from the government.

During the night shift, a traffic stop in the 4900 block of Ooltewah-Ringgold Road resulted in a misdemeanor citation for driving without a license.

In the 5200 block of Kellogg Creek, a previously issued trespass order was lifted at the request of the resident to facilitate a child custody exchange.

In the 4100 block of Birdseye View, an elderly resident was reported missing. Officers, along with K9 and drone support, located the person about an hour later at a nearby residence.

In the 5500 block of Little Debbie Parkway, officers investigated an unknown 911 call. The area was checked, and nothing unusual was found.

Sunday, August 10th

In the 9300 block of Lee Highway, a couple traveling from Texas to Michigan stopped at a gas station and reported being involved in a hit-and-run and armed disorder. Once it was determined that the incident occurred near Exit 11, Chattanooga Police were notified and took over the investigation.

In the 5000 block of City Station Drive, a resident called 911 while intoxicated to report that a family member was making negative comments about them online. The caller was advised of available options.

Later in the 5000 block of City Station Drive, the same intoxicated caller contacted police again after being evicted by a family member, resulting in a verbal disorder. The individual left the scene in a rideshare.

In the 9300 block of Lee Highway, a consensual encounter resulted in the arrest of a driver for operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

In the 4900 block of Swinyar Drive, Chattanooga Police encountered an individual with Collegedale warrants for driving on a revoked or suspended license and failure to appear. The individual was booked on the active warrant.

During the night shift, officers in the 10700 block of Lee Highway attempted to stop a blue Chevrolet pickup for not displaying a registration tag. The vehicle accelerated away after emergency lights were activated. The stop was terminated, and Bradley County authorities were notified.

In the 4800 block of College Drive East, a young driver left the roadway, striking a mailbox and a speed limit sign. A crash report was filed.

In the 4900 block of Swinyar Drive, officers verified a warrant for an individual at the request of the jail. The warrant was confirmed, and the individual is being held on a bond.

In the 4600 block of Swinyar Drive, a citizen reported a suspicious person near a park. Officers made contact with an individual who stated they were searching for a statue in the park but were unable to locate it. The person left in their vehicle.
