Bonnie Stoloff
In-Town Gallery welcomes Bonnie Stoloff to it family of artists.
A classically trained musician, Bonnie was a music educator at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences. Her free-form drawings are a visual expression of what she feels as she imagines performing the musical piece.
She began drawing on sheet music in 2022, inspired by musicians from Mendelssohn to Dylan. Her free-flowing line juxtaposes fluidity and shape with the linear quality of sheet music.
She derives her inspiration from influences such as Calder, Miro, and even Dr. Seuss!
“My art is a fusion of the visual and the musical,” Ms. Stoloff says. “As I look at the notes on the sheet music, the imagined sound swirls in my mind, I let that feeling translate into line and color.”
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Bonnie Stoloff graduated from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga with a degree in music education and received a Masters Degree from Tusculum University. In addition to In-Town Gallery, her work can be found at CHA Art Space and various other area venues.
Showcasing the creativity of local artists for 50 years, In-Town Gallery is located ‘Between the Bridges’ on Chattanooga’s North Shore at 26A Frazier Ave. Monday-Saturday, 11-6 p.m. and 12-5 p.m. on Sundays.
