Robert Evan West
Robert Evan West, 64, passed away on July 28, 2025.
He was a kind man who spent most of his life working in the grocery business as a cashier and grocery bagger for Publix, Food City and Food Lion in the Chattanooga area where he was known for his friendly smile. A passionate music lover, he was an avid collector of vinyl records and enjoyed all kinds of music, especially southern gospel, which he followed closely throughout his life and attended live concerts. His faith was central to who he was — he prayed regularly for others, often sending handwritten cards to offer encouragement or simply brighten someone’s day. Robert found joy in routine, connection, and being part of his community.
He adored his parents, Evan and Mamie West, who preceded him in death. An only child, he carried their memory with him in everything he did.
Survivors include his second cousins, Freeman Simmons of Colorado Springs, Co., and Ray Simmons of Kennesaw, Georgia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 11, at Hamilton Funeral Home and Cremation Services from 6 p.m. until funeral service time at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.
