Gwendolyn Theresa Jackson, 76, passed into eternity on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The beloved Gwendolyn T. Wyatt was born on Saturday, April 16, 1949 to the late Curtis William Wyatt Sr. and Jeanette King-Wyatt in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Gwendolyn was a proud alumna of Howard High School, Class of 1967, and worked her first job at the school. Gwen, otherwise known as “Biddy” growing up, entered the workforce at the early age of 14. Moved by love for family after the death of her father, she began working to assist her household financially. Her work ethic and determination continued through adulthood and led to a successful career at DuPont. She began in the machine aisle then moved to the denier room before diligently working to obtain her lab technician certification- the role in-which she remained until retirement.

Gwen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life and was baptized at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga. Her faith persisted and carried her through life’s many ups and downs. She was married to Kenneth Ray Jackson Sr., and the union was later dissolved. Despite early struggles with sickle cell disease and other resulting health complications, Gwen fought valiantly in faith. Fueled by the previous victories won through Christ, Gwen’s fighting spirit persisted until her final breath.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her late and loving parents, Curtis and Jeanette Wyatt; Eldest sister, Gloria Wyatt-Hood; Brothers: Charles Luther Wyatt and Herbert Wyatt; a beloved sister-in-law, Trina Wyatt; and a precious baby boy who lived only a few short days but was deeply loved.

Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her children: Kenya Jackson and Yarnell Wyatt (Tiffany); her grandchildren: Kamron Jackson, Kimora Houston, Morgan Wyatt, Pamela Wyatt, Briana Wyatt, and Dominique Loyd; her great-grandson, David Coleman; her siblings: Evelyn Elder, Curtis Wyatt, Gale Williams (Melvin), Adolph Wyatt and Reginald Wyatt (Alfreda). She was also survived by her sister-cousin, Bernadine Turner; a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters-in-law: Charlette and Tina Wyatt; her beloved, life-long friend, Ernestine Commons; and adoptive son, Edell Houston.

Gwen will be remembered for her generous nature, infectious laughter, enthusiasm for shopping and unconditional love for her family.

The public visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 2-6 p.m., at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug, 14, at 11:30 a.m., at Second Missionary Baptist Church, located 2305 East 3rd Street.

Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
