Dr. Phil Cook
Planning is underway for the inauguration of Dr. Phil Cook as the 18th President of Lee University, set for Friday morning, Sept. 19.
University staff are already making preparations for the ceremonial and gala event, which will officially install Dr. Cook into his executive role and celebrate the outset of this exciting new chapter in the institution’s history.
The ceremony will be much like other official ceremonies in Lee University life, featuring the procession of officiants, university faculty, and honored attendees all in full academic regalia; some of Lee’s signature musical performances; and culminating in the inaugural address, in which Dr. Cook will cast his vision for the ensuing presidential tenure.
The university eagerly anticipates welcoming invited guests from all spheres of the institution’s reach, including members of its board of directors, alumni representatives, longtime friends of the university, denominational leadership, civic and higher education leaders from around the region, members of the Lee University employee family and student body, along with family and friends of Dr. Cook.
Dr. Cook’s appointment began earlier this summer on July 1. As university campus life is organized around students, it is customary for an inauguration to occur during the regular academic year when the largest part of the faculty and student body can be on hand for the festivities.
