The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who stole a woman's wallet from her parked car. The suspect was recorded by surveillance cameras.
The theft happened last month in the parking lot of the BP gas station on West Walnut Avenue. On July 20, at approximately 6 p.m., the victim parked her car in the parking lot and walked to the neighboring smoke shop. A few minutes later, a man in a white sedan also parked in the BP parking lot and walked to the smoke shop. A few minutes later, the man returned from the store and walked to the victim's car, looked inside, and then opened the unlocked passenger side door. The man reached inside and took the wallet that had been left inside. The green Michael Kors wallet contained $100 in cash and the victim's bank cards and other identification cards.
The suspect is a Black male who appeared to be in his mid-to-late 30s. He wore a blue T-shirt, black pants, and black slide sandals. The suspect was recorded by the surveillance cameras at the BP store and also the smoke shop.
Anyone who knows this suspect is asked to call Detective Charles Williams at 706 278-9085, extension 9-280.
