The emergency shelter at the Chris L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center has officially closed as of today, with all 27 evacuees successfully relocated to more stable housing environments. The American Red Cross provided critical assistance to all individuals.
The Community Center will resume limited services today at 3 p.m. This initial phase of reopening will focus on providing a safe after-school space for local students while cleanup and restoration efforts continue. Full operations are expected to resume Friday.
The Department of Community Development remains prepared to offer limited support if needed.
Citizens requiring assistance are encouraged to contact the American Red Cross directly. In the event the Red Cross determines a need for emergency housing, a portion of the Francis B. Wyatt Community Center at 406 Colville St. has been offered as a temporary shelter. The Red Cross will determine if and when this or other available sites are activated.
