The United Championship Racing Alliance presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil is set to return to Fort Payne Motor Speedway in Northeast Alabama Saturday night for round #4 of its $15,000 Championship season. The "Mayhem 40" is slated for a 7p.m. CST start complete with qualifying and heats before the $2,500 to win main event that tops the multi divisional racing card.
Super Late Models (vying for $1,200) 602/Sportsman, A&B Hobby, Open Wheel Modifieds, Pony, FWD and Bombers make up the undercard of action at the 3/8's mile clay banked oval. So far this season three different winners have graced the UCRA Victory Lane. Most recent Hayden Cardwell of Knoxville won the Spring-Loaded 40 at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater. Josh Collins of Strawberry Plains won the Tazewell Speedway season opener in March and $1,000 Rookie of the Year challenger Brent Rhodes of Crossville, Al. won the annual "Bama Brawl" back in February at his home track FPMS.
Rhodes could again be a force to be reckoned with but local racer Kasey Hall of Geraldine may bring his "Hurricane" to the party Saturday night. Hall won the last two 604/Crate Late Model features at Fort Payne.
Sale Creek's Kenny Kizzar is the reigning, defending and current UCRA champion and leads the standings coming into Saturday's race. Rhodes is currently second in the standings with Knoxville's Jason Cardwell third in the points chase.
After Saturday the series moves south down I-59 to the brand new Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Al. south of Birmingham, Saturday May 21.
