Garry Thaxton Young
Garry Thaxton Young, 72, of Ooltewah, passed away on August 2, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Garry was owner and operator of Young’s Paving Inc. for the past 49 years.
He was a 1967 graduate of Tyner High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaxton and Wanda Young, and sister, Kimberly Susan Goins.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Patty Grider Young; son, Christopher (Darcey) Young; daughter, Misty (Christopher Thompson) McNabb, all of Ooltewah; brother, Donnie (Gina) Young, Nashville; seven grandchildren, Brittni (Adam Chapman) Young, Colin Young, Olivia Young, Tyler McNabb, Taylor McNabb, Tinley McNabb and Lydia Thompson; great-grandson, Carson Chapman; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 1:15 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
