Apotheca Has Grand Opening Thursday

  • Tuesday, October 24, 2023

The 28th storefront for Apotheca dispensary has opened, this one in Chattanooga, and the addition marks the growing chain’s first Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremony (and secret 60-minute sale) in the city.

“We have been expanding so fast that we haven’t had time to join local Chambers (of Commerce), until now,” said Lee VanTine, owner and CEO of Apotheca. “But, it’s an important step for us because we become partners in great communities, like Chattanooga.”

The big scissors come out at noon on Thursday at 1906 Gunbarrel Road. After a few short comments from Chamber and Apotheca reps, a 1-hour Grand Opening sale, just at this location, sees the deepest discounts the store will ever see.

VanTine creates ribbon cutting grand opening sales as an appreciation for the location and its customers. “Joining different chambers in three different states really gives you an appreciation for positive business environments. And we like to be part of that.”

Apotheca was created in 2019 to provide sustainable and reliable source of tested and trusted cannabis products, in a welcoming environment. Shelves are stocked with other natural supplements including microdosing ‘magic’ mushroom edibles and kratom goods. The chain’s brand stands apart with its home-spun feel, custom-built display cases with premium products of all kinds, even sustainably sourced farm-fresh goods. Most importantly, educated employees help people make informed choices on self-care options, said officials.

"This has been an industry full of uncomfortable uncertainties,” Mr. VanTine says. “Apotheca is designed to stand apart from ‘iffy’ smoke shops and vape stores, especially for older customers who want to feel comfortable when trying something new.”

The Cornelius, N.C., based chain has made its mark across the state with 21 storefronts. Apotheca also has dispensaries in Tennessee and Georgia, more than 30 to date and several more in the works. But, Mr. VanTine hasn’t stopped there.

“We see possibilities in multiple states,” he said, “because the need is real. We’re called, ‘the good one,’ as reputable resource for whole communities, like Chattanooga. The Apotheca mission includes ‘focusing on the wellness of both customers and communities.’ So, joining the Chattanooga Area Chamber reflects the company’s commitment to Tennessee customers, especially in the changing tides of legislation.

“We’re happy to celebrate our first ribbon cutting in Chattanooga. We consider ourselves community partners, hiring and serving locals, so everyone’s invited to this event. We want you to experience a positive, comfortable experience.”
