Here is the weekly road construction report for District 29: 

BRADLEY COUNTY SR-2 (KEITH ST. S.W.) Utility Work southbound from LM 8.87 to LM 8.88: Shoulder and single lane closure at the S Lee Hwy and Grove Ave SW intersection. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels will be present, 05/15/23 through 05/19/23 from 9am - 4pm. [2023-008]

 

BRADLEY COUNTY SR-60 widening from the 4-lane north of I-75 (LM 17.2) to SR-306 (LM19.9): During this reporting period the contractor will have short term intermittent lane closures throughout the project for utility relocation and moving equipment as work continues on new roadway alignments and a new bridge over Candies Creek. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 35 mph. Motorists are advised to use caution in the work zone and watch for flaggers assisting with traffic control.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-24 interchange improvement at SR-2 (US-11, US-41, US-72, Broad Street) and SR-58 (Market Street): Williams Street is closed to all traffic at the I-24 underpass to support the installation of new storm drainage structures for the new frontage road. Traffic will still be able to access the ramps to I-24 and US-27, but no through traffic will be allowed on Williams Street between West 21st Street and West 25th Street. Traffic will detour around the closure via West 21st Street and Broad Street. Signs are posted. The contractor will be working on new bridge construction, storm drainage structures, and utility relocation. The US-27 N on-ramp at William St. has been closed and it will remain closed until the new alignment for this ramp is completed. There will be marked detour signs to use the Broad St. US-27 on-ramp. The contractor has opened up the new Broad St exit off I-24 and closed the existing exit to the Broad St that is off the US 27 S exit. Traffic from US -27 S that needs to access Broad St. will use the Williams St. exit. Detour signs are in place. The motoring public needs to be aware of the changes. The US 27 South ramp onto I-24 East will be reduced to 2 lanes with the Williams St. exit still open. This ramp will be this way for several months and traffic is advised to drive with caution in this area. The contractor has opened up the new ramp off the US 27 S ramp to Broad St. The Williams St. Ramp that was coming off US 27 S has been permanently closed. On Thursday night, the contractor will be temporarily closing the I-24 E Exit 178 ramp to remove an overhead sign. The temporary closure will be from 9 PM - 6 AM and there will be a marked detour in places for drivers. Starting on Sunday night from 9 PM - 6 AM, the contractor will have lane closures on I-24 in both directions from MM 176 - 180 to perform milling and paving work on I-24. Also, during this operation, the contractor will have to temporarily close the exit to US 27 N so that they can mill and pave this ramp. A signed detour will be posted. There will be additional ramps temporarily closed to pave in this area.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-24 TDOT Maintenance both directions from MM 180 to MM 181: Beginning at 9:00 PM on Thursday 05/11/23, TDOT Maintenance forces will close Exit 180 B on I-24 East at Rossville Blvd to cut brush. This closure will remain in place until 6 AM Friday 05/12/23. Beginning at 9 PM on Friday 05/12/23, the I-24 West ramp from Westside Drive will be closed through 6 AM Saturday 05/13/23 to cut brush.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2: Weather permitting, the contractor will implement single lane closures between the hours of 9 PM until 6 AM Sunday through Thursday, at following locations: North Terrace between Moore Road and Germantown Road, I-75 N from MM 2 to MM 4, I-75 S from MM 4 to MM 2.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 concrete repair from MM 6.6 to MM 12.8: During this reporting period from 9 PM - 6 AM, the contractor will have lane closures on I75 Northbound from MM6.6-12.6. Traffic should expect possible delays and traffic needs to be cautious while this work is going on. Also, while they are doing their lane closures, the contractor might have to temporary close an exit ramp so that they can place the pavement markings on the ramps and gore areas.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-2 (CUMMINGS HWY.) Utility Work westbound from LM 3.19 to LM 4.52: Shoulder and single lane closure between Kelly Ferry Road and 2128 Cummings Highway. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels will be present, 05/11/23 through 06/01/23 from 9am - 2pm. [2023-288]

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-2 (US-11, US-64) McCallie Tunnel cleaning: The contractor will be cleaning this tunnel on Wednesday from 8 PM - 6 AM. There will be one lane closed in each direction for this work.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-317 (Apison Pike) improvement project from SR-321 (Ooltewah-Ringgold Road) to east of Layton Lane: Lane closures and flagging operations will be required on SR-317, Apison Pike, for utility and grading work. The flagging operations will be performed on 05/11/23, 05/12/23, 05/15/23, 05/16/23 and 05/17/23 from 7 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 7 PM. Closures will last about 2 hours per location. The contractor will have intermittent flagging operations during daytime non-peak hours for utility work, delivery of materials and equipment. There will also be flagging operations along Spalding Dr for the construction of Bridge 1.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-319 (AMNICOLA HWY.) Utility Work westbound at LM 1.42: NIGHTTIME Shoulder and single lane closures from the railroad bridge to the Chattanooga State campus entrance. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels will be present, 05/04/23 through 05/17/23 from 10 pm - 5:30 am. [2022-556]

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-319 (HIXSON PK.) Utility Work westbound at LM 5.61: Shoulder and single lane closure from Wilbanks Drive to Old Hixson Pike. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels will be present, 05/17/23 through 05/22/23 from 9am - 2pm. [2023-290]

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-319 (HIXSON PK.) Utility Work westbound at LM 5.77: Shoulder and single lane closures between Longview Drive to Food City. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, cones, and flaggers will be present, 05/15/23 through 05/17/23 from 9 am - 2 pm. [2023-289]

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-321 (OOLTEWAH-RINGGOLD RD.) Utility Work northbound from LM 0.59 to LM 0.91: Intermittent lane closures on Ooltewah Ringgold Rd between Cobble Creek Way (Stonebrook Community) and East Brainerd Rd. Motorists should reduce speed and use caution through the work zone. Arrows boards, signage, drums, and flaggers will be present between 9 am - 2 pm, 04/10/23 through 05/31/23. [2023-156]

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-8 (RINGGOLD RD.) Utility Work westbound from LM 1.68 to LM 1.64: Shoulder and single lane closures between Prater Road and Spring Creek Road. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, cones, and flaggers will be present, 05/11/23 through 05/12/23 from 9 am - 2 pm. [2023-292]

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-8 (US-127) construction near Palisades Road (LM 15.2) to near Sunset Drive (LM 15.4): The contractor has closed the right lane going up Signal Mountain Road from LM 15 (about 1/2 Mi from Palisades Road) to past Sunset Drive. This closure will be in effect for several months. There will be intermittent lane closures on Signal Mountain Road as the contractor will have flaggers out as they work. Due to the possibility of flaggers stopping traffic, traffic should be aware of possible delays in this area.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-8 (US-127) Stringers Ridge Tunnel cleaning: On Wednesday of this reporting period from 8 PM - 6 AM, the tunnel will be closed as the contractor washes the tunnel. There will be signs directing traffic to go for the detour around the closure.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-163 bridge repair over Chestuee Creek (LM 11.7): During this reporting period, the contractor will continue bridge repairs on the bridge over Chestuee Creek. Traffic on the bridge over Chestuee Creek on SR-163 at LM 11.74 will be reduced to a single lane controlled by a temporary 1`temporary 1`wtraffic signal. Maximum horizontal clearance will be limited to 11’. Wide load detour routes will be posted. Motorists are advised to reduce speed in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: Maximum horizontal clearance 11 feet.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30 (DECATUR PK.) Utility Work westbound from LM 8.71 to LM 8.67: Shoulder and single lane closure from Hughes Street to Haley Street. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, and barrels will be present, 05/15/23 through 05/17/23 from 8am - 4pm. [2022-479]

 

MEIGS COUNTY SR-58 (STATE HWY. 58) Utility Work southbound from LM 14.22 to LM 9.35: Mobile shoulder and single lane closures from Goodfield Road to Cottonport Road. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. Trucks, signage, cones, and flaggers will be present, 01/26/23 through 05/31/23 from 9 am - 2 pm. [2022-366]

 

MEIGS COUNTY SR-58 at SR-68 (LM 26.9) construction of a roundabout, and safety improvements on SR-58 near Nebo Road (LM 29.2): During this period, the contractor will be performing grading operations for construction of a new roundabout. Intermittent lane closures are possible on SR-58 and SR-68 from 8 AM to 6 PM as work is performed. Motorists are advised to reduce speed in the work zone and watch for flaggers assisting with traffic control.

POLK COUNTY SR-68 repair of the bridge over the Hiwassee River (LM 4.8): During this reporting period, the contractor mobilize equipment to the project site. A temporary traffic signal system has been installed to reduce traffic to a single lane on the bridge over the Hiwassee River. Motorists are advised to reduce speed in the work zone and watch for flaggers assisting with traffic control.
