Massey Family Thanks Allen Corey And SquareOne

  • Thursday, June 8, 2023

On behalf of the Massey family, we would like to thank Allen Corey and the SquareOne Corporation for honoring the Massey family and the late Massey Brothers (Henry, Marvin and Joe) by naming their newest restaurant Massey’s Kitchen.

Massey’s Kitchen is built on the same land on Lookout Mountain that for 50 years was the location of the Massey Brothers’ store.  Massey Bros. Grocery and then later Massey’s Food Market was in operation from the 1920s through the 1970s and was known as a gathering place for the community as well as a place of commerce.

The Masseys have lived on Lookout Mountain for 173 years.  Warren Massey moved to the mountain from Chickamauga in 1850.

The Massey family has lived in America for 340 years.  Richard Massey was the first in our family line to come to America.  He left England because of the religious persecution that was occurring at the time.  He settled in Virginia between 1684 and 1686.

Our family line travels through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.  A family member has fought in every major American war from the French and Indian War to the recent War in Afghanistan.

Again, thank you SquareOne and your founder Allen Corey for the honor.

The Massey Family
