The Covenant College volleyball team Covenant (12-1), battled Huntingdon and Agnes Scott for its first CCS tri-match of the fall. The Scots did what they needed to do to sweep both teams and extend its winning streak to eight games.
Covenant started the game strong with a kill by Emma Kalbfleisch. Kelsey Carman furthered their lead at 11-3 by serving two aces. The Scots ended set one with a kill by Hannah Haerer from Rachel Bartlett.
Set two was closer but the Scots pulled ahead with kills by Kalbfleisch and Haerer. Sarah Jennings received a service ace herself, pulling Covenant to a 12-6 lead. The set came to a close with blocks by Bartlett and Haerer.
Kills from Carman and Kalbfleisch brought Covenant to a 4-0 lead in set three.
Covenant ran away with the last set due to multiple service aces from Carman and multiple kills from Bartlett.
A kill by Kinsley Kleinmann ended the game at 25-6.
In game two, behind a strong service rotation from Cali Sandhoff, Covenant jumped out to a 14-1 lead in set one. A couple of kills from Haerer extended the Scots lead 21-4.
Back-to-back attack errors gave Covenant the 25-4 set one victory.
With a new lineup in for set two, Agnes Scott and Covenant were tied at seven. A 10-0 scoring run, which included two kills from Bailey put the Scots up 17-7. Agnes Scott would not get closer than nine points the rest of the set, as Covenant won 25-15.
Covenant scored the first 10 points of the third set with Amber Snook serving and having three service aces. The Scotties battled back ,but back-to-back service aces from Sandhoff kept Covenant in front 19-13. Delaney Stirm had two kills towards the end of the set, as Covenant won 25-17.
The Scots travel to LaGrange on Saturday for a tri-match with them and Piedmont.
