Keoni Vidrine and Wes Spillers teamed up to shoot 13-under 59 on the first day of the 2023 Moccasin Bend City Four-Ball on Saturday, grabbing a two-shot lead heading into the final round.
The duo birdied five straight holes on the opening nine to post a 29, then eagled No. 17 – a 349-yard par 4 – to highlight a tidy 30 on their closing nine.
Rusty Johnson and Brendon Wilson are in second after a first-round 11-under 61 that featured an eagle at the par 5 7th hole and a furious finish with a run of four birdies.
Wes Farris and Rick Mays are three shots back after posting a 10-under 62 in third place, while Ryan Cox and P.J. Shields sit in fourth at 9-under 63.
Jeff Greeson and Gavin Greeson are among a quartet in fifth at 8-under 64, joined by Matt Hadden and Matt Crowder, Mike Craig and Eli Allison and Richard Spangler and Bill Tarver.
In the senior division, the brother combination of Brent and Kip Henley recorded 13 birdies to shoot 12-under 60 to lead by three shots. The Henleys rattled off a streak of nine straight birdies starting at No 5 in their impressive round.
The duo of Mike Jenkins and Richard Keene birdied their final three holes to close with a 9-under 63, good for a tie for second with Joe Markham and Gary Davis along with Jimmy Watkins and Scott Patton.
