Cumulus Chattanooga and WSKZ-FM are joining forces with The Barn Nursery and the Barrelhouse Ballroom to host a concert on Oct. 20, benefitting the Wings of Hope Hurricane Relief fund. The show begins at 4 p.m. featuring Aunt Betty, Sexy Beast, The Beaters, and the Mudville Mafia.
The "Hurricane Relief Day" concert will benefit the Wings of Hope, supporting disaster relief efforts in the disaster zone left by Hurricane Helene. Stage drums for the event are sponsored by Studio Drum Pros and the concert was organized by local musician David Brown, lead singer for the Beaters.
The Barn Nursery has hosted drop-off locations, and 12 tractor trailer loads of supplies have already been collected and transported to the hurricane victims. Wings of Hope, organized by pilot and businessman, Joe Palmer, flies the supplies into inaccessible areas and airports with a fleet of airplanes and helicopters, fueled by donations from these efforts.
Wings of Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vital aviation-based humanitarian aid. Their mission is to deliver crucial supplies to storm-damaged areas, assist displaced and needy animals, and transport military veterans and individuals requiring special care across the United States. They are diligently working and putting efforts towards those that were affected by hurricane Helene in Tennessee and North Carolina.
Scott Chase, operations manager, Cumulus Chattanooga, said, “KZ106 has been rocking Chattanooga out for over 45 years. When we put the call out for help, our listeners showed up, donating supplies to help our neighbors in need.”
Cole Webster, leading the charge with The Barn Nursery, said, “Our family and staff have been blown away by the generosity of people dropping off supplies. It has shown us that you truly do receive more through giving.”
