UTC Runners Travel To Live In Lou Cross Country Classic Saturday

  • Friday, October 4, 2024
The Chattanooga men’s and women’s cross country teams are running in the top tier, Gold, Division Saturday morning at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic at the E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

“This is one of the best and fastest meets of the year with programs from across the nation competing,” Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. “The course is gently rolling and fast.  We generally have kids set [personal record] marks on this course.”

The men and women are both slated for the Gold Division race.
The men will run against teams from Clemson, Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee Tech while getting a preview of the SoCon Championships with ETSU and Mercer in the Gold race as well.

The women will be up against teams from Charlotte, Clemson, Duquesne, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast, Louisville, Lee, South Carolina, Tennessee Tech and Xavier. ETSU and Mercer are also slated for the Gold race.

The men’s 8-kilometer race begins at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s 5K to follow at 10:15 a.m. The womens’ B-Team will run in the Silver Division at 11:30 a.m.

“We have had a very good two weeks of training and everyone is pretty healthy for this time of year,” Meyer said. “We get to race some different schools outside of the region, which is nice.

“The kids look forward to this race all year and is a favorite for many.  It is also nice to head north a little and race in some slightly cooler and dryer air.”

Live scoring will be available on race day with results to be posted on GoMocs.com following the events.
