City Council Approves Plan To Convert Extended Stay Hotel On Airpark Drive Into Apartments

The City Council on Tuesday night approved plans by a California developer to convert the Extended Stay America hotel at 6240 Airpark Dr. into apartments.

Councilwoman Carol Berz said the Urbanest Group had pledged to offer a variety of housing, including efficiencies, one-bedroom and two-bedroom.

She said, "Just converting motel rooms into apartments doesn't cut it."

Leslie Morgan of Urbanest said, "We have converted 32 properties in 13 states over the past 14 years."

She said the makeover "can produce hundreds of quality housing options."

Ms. Morgan said a lobby/lounge, a laundry, a fitness center, Wifi and a bicycle rack.

Councilwoman Berz said she had been promised there would be onsite management and onsite security.

The three-story hotel was built in 1996.
