Area activities: Guests of Cloudland can enjoy all that Lookout Mountain has to offer from hang-gliding (from a launch of 1340’ above the valley floor), hiking, rock climbing, running, and kayaking in Lookout Creek- -all located within minutes from the property. Golf: McLemore is home to the ‘best finishing hole in America’ and has achieved many accolades over its short history. Visitors will enjoy the experience of McLemore’s Highlands Course featuring a cliff-edge par 71 course, or The Cairn Short Course which features a six-hole course offering hours of practice and fun. Later this year, The Keep will open later this year with several holes running along the cliff’s edge with views of McLemore Cove below and Pigeon Mountain in the distance.

Economic Impact: 100 percent of visitor spending will be new to Walker County with an estimation of $43.5 million spent annually at full operation. The 10-year projections of the change in local government show that Walker County will net $1.79 million in new revenue annually as a result of McLemore Resort.

History Repeats Itself: In 1928, the first luxury hotel was built on Lookout Mountain in Dade County. The building was referred to as the ‘castle in the clouds’ and according to some, was the hotel where Elizabeth Taylor and fourth husband Eddie Fischer honeymooned (in room 541). Locals have various recollections and the former hotel is now home to Covenant College. Cloudland’s opening makes it the first luxury hotel to open on Lookout Mountain since the Great Depression and the only mountaintop luxury hotel in the state of Georgia.

Art in every room and public space. Guests at Cloudland will notice original art hung in each of the guest rooms as well as in many of the common areas. Artist Kim Hubbard was selected to photograph botanicals from the area. Kim's professional experience includes five years as senior photo editor for National Geographic, 12 years as a photo editor/photographer for Audubon, one year as senior photo editor at the White House, and five years as photo editor for the National Wildlife Federation. Kim is McLemore’s artist in residence.

A destination for a day or a stay: McLemore Resort and Cloudland welcome guests to the properties. From May through October, McLemore hosts the ‘Songwriter Series’ that brings talent to the courtyard for ‘unplugged’ performances under the stars. All of the restaurants are available not only to McLemore members but also to guests and the public. McLemore is also a growing residential community with homes and homesites available.
