The Carson Scholars Fund announces the awarding of 579 new scholars and 931 recognized scholars this year, making up the largest cohort of Carson Scholars to date. All scholars will be celebrated during the CSF’s series of six regional banquets across the country this spring.
The annual Chattanooga Carson Scholars Awards Ceremony will be held this Sunday at The Chattanoogan Hotel, 1201 Broad St. in Chattanooga at noon.
This year, 78 new students will be honored, and 102 recognized Carson Scholars will be celebrated for their continued accomplishments.
CSF Co-founders Dr. Ben and Mrs. Candy Carson will be in attendance.
Officials said, "Each year the CSF honors an elite group of students from grades four-11 who not only demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, maintaining at least a 3.75 GPA, but also embody significant humanitarian qualities. These scholars are awarded a $1,000 college scholarship, an Olympic-sized medal and a certificate of accomplishment.
"Carson Scholars stand out as agents of change, actively contributing to society through altruistic engagement and academics. These impressive students are today’s leaders and on paths to becoming our country’s future leaders, making meaningful impacts within their communities and beyond."
