Students representing Christian Family Theater won a Freddie G Excellence in Ensemble Work Award at the 2024 Junior Theater Festival Atlanta. The weekend dedicated to rewarding and celebrating excellent student-driven musical theater programs was held at the Cobb Convention Center in Atlanta.

Christian Family Theater’s Maxwell Stoll and Rhett Brown were chosen for the Performance All-Stars. Libbie Weaver and Margherita Barioli made it to the call-back to a yet-to-be announced special project promoting musical theater in schools.

At the festival, the group performed 15 minutes of a Broadway Junior musical for adjudicators.

Christian Family Theater presented Junie B. Jones The Musical JR to Beth Reeves, Professor and theater director; Broadway actor Katy Geraghty (Into the Woods, Groundhog Day); and Derek Bowley (iTheatrics Teaching Artist).

Said Ms. Reeves, "Strong acting and singing. Wonderful! They showed the importance of being an ensemble."

Added Ms. Geraghty, "These kids looked so pumped throughout the entire performance. They fully leaned into the story, bringing this beloved book to life.”

Mr. Bowley said, “These young performers captured the joyful innocence of Junie B. Jones The Musical JR. At Christian Family Theater. Students are learning the necessary skills for musical theater performance, but they are also learning about collaboration, community, camaraderie, and ensemble."
