The price of fiber optic internet and phone services has not increased during the 14 years since it has been available from EPB, but it has now become necessary to again increase the cost of subscriptions for fiber optics TV. At the monthly meeting, the EPB Board of Directors approved price increases beginning April 1 for EPB Fi TV packages by $5 per month for Bronze Tier Channels, $9 per month for silver Tier and $11 per month for Gold Tier channels. Ever-increasing charges from the companies that own the content and which provide the TV services to EPB is to blame, said EPB CEO David Wade. Customers will be notified prior to the change.

High-quality TV service will continue to be provided as long as enough customers want to subscribe, he said. EPB also continues to offer help to those customers who are interested in finding the streaming option that can lead to substantial savings. The free online tool “MyBundle” allows customers to comparison shop the options including EPB’s TV packages along with hundreds of streaming services. Now EPB has 120,000 cable subscribers and of those there are 33,000 video subscribers.

EPB also offers free consultations to help customers with this process. The latest EPB Fi TV platform will increase by $3 for residential customers and the News & Sports package that is only available to Bronze customers will increase by $3. The subscription price for MGM+ will have a substantial increase from $1 to $6.99 before tax, but other premium and additional packages are not increasing.
